How Much Do Vaccinations Cost?
Vaccinations (immunizations) are free for Kansas City, Missouri children with no health insurance, who are under-insured or eligible for Medicaid.
Fees for children if you do not live in Kansas City, Missouri proper:
- $10 fee for the first child
- $5 fee for each additional child within the same family
To Get Vaccinated
- Come to the Kansas City, Mo., Health Department clinic, 2400 Troost Ave., Suite 1400 (We do not accept appointments at this time.)
- Children under the age of 18 need to be accompanied by parent/legal guardian.
- If child is not accompanied by parent or legal guardian, then a letter, written and signed, from the parent/guardian must accompany child.
- Letter needs to include:
- Parent/guardian’s name
- Child’s name
- Name of the person accompanying the child
- Phone number where parent/guardian can be reached
- Letter needs to include:
- Bring a copy of the child’s previous shot record.
- The person accompanying the child must have a picture ID

*Registration for the clinic closes 30 minutes before the clinic does, so please do not wait till the end of a shift to arrive, or we may not be able to assist you during that shift.
What Vaccinations Do We Have?
The clinic provides the following childhood vaccinations required in the state of Missouri prior to the first day of school:
- Diptheria (DTaP)
- Hepatitis A
- Hepatitis B
- Hib (for influenza type b)
- Polio (IPV)
- Measles – Mumps – Rubella (MMR)
- Meningitis
- PCV13 (Pneumococcal)
- Rotavirus (RV)
- Tetanus
- Varicella (chickenpox)
- HPV (human papillomavirus)
Flu Vaccine
While not mandatory for school enrollment, the clinic does provide yearly flu shots (Influenza vaccine).
Cost:
- Free for those eligible
- For those with private insurance and proper proof of coverage, the health department will bill the insurance company
- Or $35 (cash or credit card)
The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention maintains a list of recommended and required immunizations:

Please Note:
- During the back-to-school rush, the immunization clinic may reach full capacity early and KCHD services may not be available for all walk-in clients.
- Please note: exemption cards can be obtained without an appointment during normal immunization clinic hours on Thursdays. Each child receiving a card must first be registered.
- Registration closes a half-hour before the clinics.
