Come to the Kansas City, Missouri Health Department to get your annual flu shot.

Cost

Free for those with no insurance coverage, although we have limited supply.
The health department will bill:
- Medicare Part B
- Medicaid
- Most other insurance plans for those that provide proof of coverage.
All others will be charged $22.00 per shot or $47.00 for the high-dose formulation (very limited quantities; available to seniors 65 years and older).

Flu Shots for Children

Children under the age of 18 need to be accompanied by parent/legal guardian.

If child is not accompanied by parent or legal guardian, then a letter, written and signed, from the parent/guardian must accompany child.

Letter needs to include:

Parent/guardian’s name
Child’s name
Name of the person accompanying the child
Phone number where parent/guardian can be reached
A copy of the child’s previous shot record is needed.
Picture ID for the person accompanying the child

*Registration for the clinic closes 30 minutes before the clinic does, so please do not wait till the end of a shift to arrive, or we may not be able to assist you during that shift.

Best Ways to Avoid the Flu

Get vaccinated
Wash hands frequently and thoroughly with soap and water.
Cover coughs and sneezes with your elbow or a tissue.
If you get sick, stay home if you can.

No vaccine is 100 percent effective; however, those who get vaccinated and still get the flu typically have far milder symptoms, for a much shorter period of time.
