Come to the Kansas City, Missouri Health Department to get your annual flu shot.

Cost

  • Free for those with no insurance coverage, although we have limited supply.
  • The health department will bill:
    • Medicare Part B
    • Medicaid
    • Most other insurance plans for those that provide proof of coverage.
  • All others will be charged $22.00 per shot or $47.00 for the high-dose formulation (very limited quantities; available to seniors 65 years and older).

Flu Shots for Children

Children under the age of 18 need to be accompanied by parent/legal guardian.

If child is not accompanied by parent or legal guardian, then a letter, written and signed, from the parent/guardian must accompany child.

Letter needs to include:

  • Parent/guardian’s name
  • Child’s name
  • Name of the person accompanying the child
  • Phone number where parent/guardian can be reached
  • A copy of the child’s previous shot record is needed.
  • Picture ID for the person accompanying the child

*Registration for the clinic closes 30 minutes before the clinic does, so please do not wait till the end of a shift to arrive, or we may not be able to assist you during that shift.

Best Ways to Avoid the Flu

  • Get vaccinated
  • Wash hands frequently and thoroughly with soap and water.
  • Cover coughs and sneezes with your elbow or a tissue.
  • If you get sick, stay home if you can.

No vaccine is 100 percent effective; however, those who get vaccinated and still get the flu typically have far milder symptoms, for a much shorter period of time.
