The City of Kansas City, Missouri has adopted provisions into the Kansas City Zoning and Development Code regarding the installation and use of accessory solar energy systems.  The provisions were written to allow solar energy systems as accessory uses on any property in the City provided certain minimum requirements were complied with.  The City encourages the use of solar and other renewable energy systems.

Solar energy system installation plans may be submitted electronically for review and approval. Compass KC makes it possible to complete the entire review, approval and permit issuance process online.
