Planned Bikeway Projects

Gillham Plaza Complete Streets

• This project will install Complete Streets improvements--improved pedestrian crossings and a two-way cycletrack-- on Gillham Plaza from Armour Boulevard to 31st Street.

Downtown Loop

Martin Luther King Jr. (Paseo) Boulevard

• 75th to 85th Street: bike facilities in this section will be striped in coordination with the Street Preservation Program
  • This is a pilot location on the corridor
  • View project plans for the section south of 75th St. 
• Based on stakeholder input and feedback gathered at neighborhood meetings, the project north of 75th Street is on hold while staff re-scopes the project and conducts additional direct outreach.  

Lexington/Gladstone

• Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard (Paseo) to Bellefontaine Ave.
• Updated design includes the City’s first two-way cycletrack and traffic calming elements in the northeast neighborhoods
• Project is anticipated to go out to bid in fall 2019
• Staff met with neighborhood groups in spring 2019 to review the project design and gather feedback

Charlotte/Holmes

• E 25th Street to E 36th Street
• 2.5 lane miles of bikeways on both Charlotte and Holmes connecting downtown to midtown
• Staff met with neighborhood groups in late spring 2019 to provide a project update and gather feedback
• Staff is currently coordinating this project with our Street Preservation program to align striping and needed resurfacing work

Completed Bikeway Projects

18th Street Buffered Bike Lane

Buffered bike lanes were striped on 18th Street in spring 2019 from Woodland Ave. to Charlotte St.  

 

Grand Boulevard Buffered Bike Lane

The Grand Boulevard portion of the Downtown Bike Loop was completed in fall 2017.

Armour/Benton Boulevard Bikeway

This bikeway through midtown and the City’s east side was completed in summer 2018 and marked the City’s first parking protected bike lanes.
